One of the most iconic songs of the 80's was Smooth Operator by a famous English band - 'Sade' , named after it's lead singer 'Sade Adu' - one of the most successful British female artist in history and recognized as an influence on contemporary music who was widely popular in the 80s and 90's.
The song was released in 1984 as a 3rd single from their debut album - Diamond Life. A Smooth Jazz , Smooth Soul , Sophiti-Pop , it was written by 'Sade Adu' & 'Ray St. John' and produced by 'Robin Miller' under the label - 'Epic.'
The song reached no.19 on the UK Singles Chart. It became Sade's first top-10 entry in the US peaking at no.5 on the Billboard Hot 100 , was among the the top-40 for several weeks and topped the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart.
It was the band's breakthrough Single on the US charts and most successful Single internationally.
