This iconic no. from the 80’s is a song by a Swedish rock duo – Roxette (formed in 1986 by Per Gessle and Marie Fredrikson), one of the biggest Pop-Rock phenomena of the 80s and 90’s. It was released in 1988 as the 2nd single from the duo’s 2nd studio album- Look Sharp !
An Alt. Pop-Rock no. , it was written by Per Gessle and Mats Persson , produced by Clarence Ofwerman under the label Parlophone EMI.
The song became one of the most successful singles of 1989 reaching no.1 in both US & Canada. It was the 1st song to reach no.1 in the US without a commercially released 7-inch single.
It reached the chart peak at no.6 on the UK Singles chart and by 1990 it became a sensational hit in Europe and internationally.
