The first day of Gujerat's 9 day Festival in honour of the Hindu Goddess Durga being celebrated in Derby Market Place during Derby Festé 2017.
My pictures of mud and straw life-size idols of the goddess come from Kolkata's Durga Puja Festival. They were all ceremonially immersed in the Hooghly River to dissolve at the end of the Festival.
Permission to take pictures of them was given at the pandels where they were displayed.
