QuickClip- ORNL 3544 reroutes nearing completion
At ORNL’s Process Waste Treatment Plant, Building 3544, crews are close to completing rerouting of steam and potable water lines to the Influent Pump Station, Building 4001. Electricians have grounded the structural steel and are installing heat trace on the water line for freeze protection. Carpenters are working to install grout pads underneath the structural steel. Once the final tie-ins are made to the Influent Pump Station, a final post- maintenance test will be performed to ensure no leaks exist. Insulation will then be placed on the lines. This work is necessary to ready the facility for demolition, projected for FY 2028. Freeing up this land will provide more area for ORNL’s science mission.
