Sustainability Review: Ben Caldecott (Oxford) & Steve Waygood (Aviva Investors)
Sustainability Review, with Ben Caldecott (Oxford Sustainable Finance Programme) and Steve Waygood (Aviva Investors)
Why you should watch: Less than two weeks to COP26 - and activity in the climate space is heating up. Two of the UK's leading experts in sustainable finance discuss developments - from the ISO's (important, but under-reported) London Declaration, to the latest initiative by Sovereign Wealth Funds, to the pressure on BHP from proxy voters, to the launch of an LSE/Grantham transparency platform - to COP itself. What can we expect? Are expectations too high? Or has a great deal already been achieved?
Moderator: Andrew Hilton (Director, CSFI)
Panellists:
Ben Caldecott is the Founding Director of the Oxford Sustainable Finance Programme, and the inaugural Lombard Odier Associate Professor of Sustainable Finance. He is also the Founding Director of the UK Centre for Greening Finance and Investment, and Strategy Advisor for Finance at COP26.
Steve Waygood is Chief Responsible Investment Officer at Aviva Investors, where he leads a global team with £350 billion of assets under management. He is also a member of the European Commission's High-level Expert Group on Sustainable Finance, a member of the UK's Green Finance Transition, and a member of the FSB's Taskforce on TCFD. He is also a Visiting Professor at the Bayes Business School.
