Reimagining vintage comic books' caricatures of S.F.'s Japanese | Japantown series
Illustrator John Blanchard tells the story of S.F. Japantown’s heyday and erasure through illustrations based on historic photos and documents.
Blanchard used the photos to portray real people and scenes from Japantown in the 1940s, rendered in the style of comic books from that era.
