Charlie Starbuck: Weeding to Restore Presidio's Natural Habitat | The Regulars
Charlie Starbuck has been a volunteer Presidio Park Steward for the past 13 years, three days a week. Initially there to learn about birds, the 79-year-old now helps weed out invasive plants and has become "addicted" to restoring the natural beauty of the wilderness.
"It's turning back the clock," he says. "I'm finding out what the Presidio and California must have looked like before Presidio was settled... It's like watching an artist at work."
