PM condemns TikTok for graphic suicide video

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has condemned popular social media app, TikTok, saying it needs to do more to detect and remove vile and harmful videos from the platform.

The app prompted controversy after videos of animals were used on the platform to lure children into watching a graphic clip featuring a man committing suicide.

“Those who run these organisations have a responsibility to those who are watching it and particularly when it comes to children,” the Prime Minister said.

“Your products are changing the world but with that comes a great responsibility, and you need to be accountable and responsible for making sure your product does not harm Australians .

“My government will be making sure that we do everything to hold you to account for that.”
