Hatchling Club: How To Make A Towel Turtle
The first activity to kick off Hatchling Club is making a turtle out of towels - no waste, no need to buy supplies, and no paint on the walls! You can thank us later 😉
What you will need:
------------------------------
1 Bath towel
1 Hand towel
2 Face cloths
Making the shell:
------------------------------
Lay the bath towel out on a flat surface
Roll up the short ends to meet in the middle
Turn the towel over so that the rolled side is underneath
Fold back one end half way. Fold that back once more
Hold the two sides and pull them away from each other and downwards to create the shell-shape
Making the flippers:
------------------------------
Lay the hand towel out on a flat surface
Roll up the short ends to meet in the middle
Turn the towel over so that the rolled side is underneath
Bring the short ends up to meet each other
Pull out each of the 4 ends out slightly
Pull the ends away from each other to create the 4 flippers
Lay this on a flat surface and adjust as necessary
Making the tail:
------------------------------
Lay out one face cloth on a flat surface
Roll the top two corners diagonally in towards the middle to create a triangle
Making the head:
------------------------------
Lay out one face cloth on a flat surface
Roll the top two corners diagonally in towards the middle to create a triangle
Assembling the turtle:
------------------------------
Start with the flippers
Place the tail and head in opposite directions across the flippers with the rolled sides facing downwards
Place the shell on top
Pull up the head and tuck it into the shell a little so that it stays upright
(Optional: add decorations like eyes to make your turtle more realistic! We cut a circle from a leaf for our turtle's eyes and decorated the turtle with flowers 🌸)

We can't wait to see your turtley awesome towels! 😍
