World Sea Turtle Day Webinar: Sea Turtle Science in the Maldives

To mark World Sea Turtle Day in 2022, the Olive Ridley Project co-hosted a webinar on 'Sea Turtle Science in the Maldives' with the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology and with the Environment Protection Agency. Sea turtle conservation NGOs Marine Savers and Atoll Marine Savers also participated in the event.

The webinar presented results of ongoing research projects and key milestones from 2021 and 2022, including the first national Red List Assessment of Marine Reptiles in the country that has now classified sea turtles as endangered on a national level. ORP presented on its research and satellite tagging, Atoll Marine Center shared its sea cage rehabilitation project, and Marine Savers shared findings from rehabilitation and satellite tagging.
