Lecture 25: Charlie Dalton: A forgotten revolutionary by Mike Cannady
Charlie Dalton was born in 1903 and grew up around Columba's Road, Drumcondra, Dublin. He joined in Irish Volunteers in 1917, aged 14. He was recruited to join Michael Collins The Squad group
He was a Colonel in the Free State Army and participated in the Irish Army Mutiny in 1924.
In 1929 he published a memoir entitled 'With The Dublin Brigade. His brother was Emmet Dalton.
Michael Cannady has a Masters in History from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, with a focus on the Irish Revolution. He is passionate about Irish History and using objects and documents to tell the stories of the Irish Revolution. He manages the website for the Society of Irish Revolutionary History and Militaria, and uses that platform to share items from his personal collection with others. He is currently working on writing a biography of Charlie Dalton, and hopes to have it completed by the end of 2020.
