Dorothy Collins: Wonderful Guy from South Pacific 11-22-1961
Television's legendary series Your Hit Parade gave the world two of its brightest singing female stars, Gisele MacKenzie and Dorothy Collins. During their summers away from the series, and after the show left the air, both of these lovely Canadian born performers, could be seen on many stages in big productions of South Pacific, Unsinkable Molly Brown, Sound of Music, etc. Here Dorothy sings Wonderful Guy from South Pacific. Note at 1:28 in this video, Dorothy is dancing up some steps in her bare feet, and almost falls...but she never misses a beat in this production number, which was most likely the result of all the years she spent doing live television, and proves what a PROFESSIONAL singer and dancer she was. It's a good thing there was no studio audience for this show, and the songs had been prerecorded!
