The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) June 2026 recorded an overall pass percentage of 12.78%, but 35% of first-time candidates cleared the screening test, the Centre informed Parliament. Responding to a query in the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel clarified that nearly 88% of candidates who appeared in the June 2026 session were repeat candidates, which significantly influenced the overall pass rate. The Minister stated that the FMGE is conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to assess whether foreign medical graduates possess the knowledge and competence required for registration to practise medicine in India.
