The Tamil Nadu Medical Officers Association (TNMOA) has criticised the Tamil Nadu government over the loss of 151 unfilled NEET Super Speciality (SS) seats, alleging that the situation resulted from poor legal handling and administrative negligence. The criticism came after the Supreme Court directed the State to revert the vacant in-service seats to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) by July 29, 2026, while asking the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) to complete NEET SS 2025 counselling within two weeks. The Court also ruled that if the qualifying percentile is lowered after the second round, 50% of the vacant seats should return to the State while the remaining seats would be filled through the All India Quota (AIQ).
