Wild elephants roaming outside the protected area in Pawa district.
Our colleagues of the Phuluang Wildlife Research Station just started to install beehive fences around two cassava plantations at Pawa district in Chantaburi province. About 50 wild elephants are roaming outside the protected area in search for water. To protect private property, the Phuluang Wildlife Research Team is introducing beehive fencing to the local community. The extra donations we raise with this campaign will be used to invest in camera traps in this area. Camera traps are needed to monitor the behavior of the elephants and for adaptive management of the project.
With $1,100 extra funds, we can install 4 camera traps to compare the results of the new site to existing sites.
