Not Joking, CHICKEN Mutton is Now ILLEGAL in Bihar #shorts
The Bihar government has recently announced that meat and fish can no longer be sold openly in the state. Under the new guidelines, roadside stalls and open displays of meat are prohibited. Only licensed sellers with proper permission will be allowed to sell meat, and shops will have to follow rules like covering displays so meat isn’t visible from outside. The government says this is meant to improve hygiene, public order and respect social sentiments, and has warned that strict action and fines will be taken against those who don’t follow the rules.
The announcement has triggered a variety of responses from different sections of society. Some political leaders and supporters of the government have welcomed the move, saying it will help keep markets clean and protect cultural values. Others, including politicians from other states, have criticised it as “food politics” and an attempt to interfere in people’s personal choices.
On the ground, there are mixed reactions from ordinary people and traders. Many small meat sellers and hawkers are worried about their livelihoods because a large part of their income has come from open-air sales that might now become harder or more expensive under the new licensing rules. Some traders are asking for the process to be simpler and for more time to comply with the new standards. At the same time, some city residents have expressed support for the change, saying that hiding meat displays will make local markets cleaner and reduce unpleasant sights and smells.
There is also concern in parts of the community that the timing of the rules — coming just before periods when meat consumption traditionally rises — could affect people’s routines and small business earnings. Overall, the debate shows a split in public opinion, with hygiene and order on one side and worries about economic impact and food choice on the other.
