Ducati 600 Supersport Full Restoration EP4

Well things are starting to get exciting now that the bike is 90% completely restored only the fairings left to go.

Anyway in this episode i work my way through the last of the parts that need to be cleaned, painted, plated and fabricated.

First thing i done was to arrange all the parts that were left ont he table to give me a clear idea of what needed done. The first thing i done was to give the wiring loom a soak in soapy water to remove all the years of grime that had built up on it, while that was soaking i made a start on stripping down the rest of the metal parts and putting them into my deox c rust removal solution to remove all traces of rust and to prepare them for the plating process.

While the Deox c was doing its thing i removed the wiring loom from the cleaning solution and hung it up to dry out thoroughly then grabbed the rear seats and kickstand and headed over to the parts washer to scrub all the chain oil and grime off of them before polishing the bare alloy pieces and re-painting the anodized parts as unfortunately i dont have access to an anodizing system ......for the moment ;)

I then retrieved all the parts from the rust eater and got to work with the plating them in zinc and protecting the zinc with yellow and blue passivates. I will be making a video on my electroplating system soon so i wont go into detail here.

Once the plating was done i could move onto the refitting process and first job on that list was to fit the replacement shocks i managed to get a hold of, absolutely delighted with the the fact they have just been rebuilt as well so that saves me time, effort and money which is always good.

After that came the fitting of the wiring loom a job i always hate as it takes forever to try and get the loom to behave and fit back into all the places it came out of neatly but i managed it and got it all roughly cable tied into position the final ties will be added once the fairings go on so that i can hide them out of sight.

Then all i was left with were all the small jobs like fitting and tensioning the chain, fitting the calipers, hoses, banjo bolts, rear sets and kickstand and a couple of switches oh and the headlight, taillight and instrument cluster i left these for last as i didnt want anything to happen to them while working on the rest of the bike.

then as usual its the obligatory ending shots, sorry about my shaky footage i really need to invest in a gimble of some sorts, anyway thats getting off topic

As usual i really hope you enjoy this series of videos and leave a like and a comment to let me know what you think.

Enjoy.
