What do they have in common? Eddie Vedder, Neil Peart, Into The Wild
Eddie Vedder sings “society, you´re a crazy breed”. The choice of words here is perfect. Chris McCandless has decided to live a nomadic life, to be on the move, and he’s not going to be part of a greedy narrative. Neil Peart has faced the worst personal tragedy one can withstand and he also needed to leave society, to meet the wilderness. He had become a ghost rider. He needed to wander and explore. The road was the healing. All he could do was to keep moving.
Both wanderers begin to see life again, through the road, through the beauty of the wilderness. And we find music in the midst of their narratives. Two songs that remind us of the power of motion, the power of the healing road, freed from preconceived notions of what security means, of social harnesses.
And then I ask you. What do you do to keep moving? What moves you? What is the soundtrack of your motion?
