Peter Gabriel - SLEDGEHAMMER || Bass + Vocal Cover
I used 2 basses on this one:
1) 80% panned left channel - Tamulis Jazz Bass (the one I've been playing for over 5 years, basically a Fender Jazz Bass with a Badass bridge and Hipshot tuners... oh and I put a new vintage golden pick guard on it).
2) 80% panned right channel - Furlan Fretless Bass - I borrowed this beautiful bass from luthier Luciano Furlan. It's an active monster with Bill Bartolini Jazz Bass pickups, a high mass bridge and imbuia body with ebony fingerboard.
CLA Vocals plugin on my lead vox. This is also the first time I'm using the SSL S2 and not my workhorse Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 but after 6 years I wanted to try a new interface and the SSL has a sweet 4k analog distortion that is killer!
I didn't use an octave pedal, I preferred to play a "down below" version with the 5-string fretless and an octave higher with the Jazz Bass, I also added compression and a bit of chorus in order to try and get closer to Tony Levin's iconic sound.
My dance moves are also a failed attempt to emulate the great Peter Gabriel, at least I tried and went out in style. I hope you like it!
