Metalhead Reacts to Taylor Swift's ANTI HERO
Fellow metal scholars, today's video is about a pop icon, Taylor Swift. She's probably the biggest music star in the world right now and metal fans are not immune from this type of exposure. Her Anti Hero music video is packed with symbolism and there's the controversy of her deleted scene, related to fatphobia accusations. She also deals with covert narcissism, impostor syndrome and other mental health issues, so this is an interesting opportunity for us to reflect on the impact that her music and status have on promoting awareness to clarify these matters.
The song's music video, from her tenth studio album, "Midnights," which was released on Oct. 21, opens on Swift eating alone at a table. She realizes she's being haunted by ghosts — clad in sunglasses over vintage sheets — and as she runs away, another version of herself knocks at the door. That can be seen as introducing her alter ego to the audience. This alter ego behaves similarly to someone who has narcissistic tendencies.

Swift spends time with the other extraverted "Taylor" throughout the video, engaging in self destructive behavior like smashing guitars, taking shots and drinking from a wine bottle on the roof.
"It's me, hi, I'm the problem," she sings in the chorus.
"At tea time, everybody agrees. I link this line to Alice in Wonderland.
She's faced backlash cause there's a deleted scene with an old scale which displays the word “FAT,” as her evil twin looks over her shoulder disapprovingly.
