One of the big changes for 2026 will be the proposed partnership between Red Bull and Ford. Ford last competed in Formula 1 in 2004. As a result, Ford need to familiarize themselves with the sport again and they have now revealed to Speedcafe how Daniel Ricciardo has been helping them do that

Ford Performance Motorsports – Global Director, Mark Rushbrook, started off by praising Daniel

“Daniel Ricciardo, he’s a fantastic personality, a lot a lot of energy”

“He’s been really good for us, and helping us learn the sport or learn the sport as we return to it”

“But also interacting with our company with our management with our employees”

Rushbrook further confirmed how the process has already started

“We’ve had him for a day in Dearborn”

“The local team down there [in Australia] spent a lot of time with him for the Australian Grand Prix and we’ve spent more time with him since then”

Rushbrook signed off by confirming that this will be an ongoing thing

“We will continue to do so”

“He’s a fantastic person, individual and a great resource for us”

Red Bull’s Sergio Perez feels that his struggle is “what it is. It’s something that mentally you have to be strong” [Speedcafe]

“And I’m strong. I know I will overcome this difficult period of basically two races”

“In Monaco, yes I made a mistake and it was a bad weekend, but I think without that we had the pace”

Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack suggested that Lance Stroll “is very strong on high-speed circuits” [Motorsport]

“So I am confident that we will be able to score with both cars”

Mercedes technical director James Allison explained “the job of a driver [during tyre tests] is just to be a decent metronome for the tyre guys to make their conclusions about the tyres” [Official Statement]

“If we shunt the thing, you're actually paying for all the repairs out of the cost cap”

“So [Mick Schumacher] drove nicely, repeatably, reliably and gave us the platform for the tyre engineers to make their conclusions”

Haas team principal Guenther Steiner pointed out that Ferrari “fall back as well in the race” [Media Debrief]

“It seems like – on certain racetracks, not on all of them”

“We need to find where the problem before coming to the conclusion that it’s the same problem [for Haas that] Ferrari has got”

Mercedes driver George Russell believes that they are “definitely on the right path”
