Hi everybody!
My name is Daria and today you will see the place which you must visit when you’re going to Moscow. St Basil’s Cathedral is the most famous Russian church.
It is on Red Square, and was built between 1555 and 1561
It is actually nine churches in one.
They were built one after another and connected with galleries and passageways.
When it was built St Basil’s exterior walls and domes were not as colourful as they are today.
the cathedral used to be white and its domes were gold.
The red brick and multicolored decorations are a more recent addition. This colour and detail was added during the 200 years after construction.
This crazy confusion of colours, patterns and shapes is the culmination of a style that is unique to Russian architecture.
I think this church is absolutely must be included to you travel plan.
