How Weather & Season Affect Bike Traffic (Montreal)

Montreal has some of North America's best cycling infrastructure, but it also has harsh winters. In this video we combine statistics on cycling volumes with historical weather data to better understand how cycling in Montreal changes over the course of the year (and based on the weather).

Due to missing data (weather or cycling numbers), the analysis was able to look at 1,544 of the 1,826 total days in the five year period of 2015 to 2019.

The weather data is available from Environment Canada under Historical Data: https://climate.weather.gc.ca/historical_data/search_historic_data_e.html

The weather station chosen was St-Hubert airport in Longueuil, just outside of Montreal.
