BMHuman: DIY Twig Pyramid

The twigs have been gathered and tied, ready to be destroyed by the fluffy menace.

I decided to make a slightly easier boredom breaker for Cleaver and show another way to be creative and save some money while giving your hamster a great life. Here's more specific directions to build the Twig Pyramid:

1. Only use branches from hamster safe wood (apple and pear trees are what I use) and be sure that there have been no pesticides sprayed on the tree. Be sure to soak the twigs overnight to remove small bugs and help clean. Scrub the pieces with a light soap before using and let dry for 24 hours before giving to your hamster.

2. Using thread or string, tie three twigs together to make a triangle.

3. Then using another two twigs, tie them together at one side to form a V. Make two of these V sides. You should now have the three sides to the pyramid.

4. Holding the triangle, attach one of the V's to the triangle. Then attach the other V to the structure. This should create a (semi) stable pyramid.

5. Using extra twigs and timothy hay (or other safe grasses), make a semi solid interior inside of the pyramid. Then stuff treats into the hay in various spots. The pyramid I made held a few protein pellets, about 5 sunflower seeds, and nearly ten yogurt drops.

6. You can leave the structure in the cage because everything is hamster safe!
