My cleaning schedule for a larger cage:
Daily: Spot clean and "litter" box
Weekly: Wipe down toys and clean out houses
Every 3-4 months (or if stinky): Deep clean part of the cage, no wiping down and leaving at least 3/4 of the old substrate
Yearly (or sooner if needed): Full cage clean out, including wiping down the cage. I've honestly never done one of these on a scheduled basis because I end up cleaning out the hovel for some other reason before the year is up!
