I Found GOLD In My Yard In Northern Lower Michigan

I found gold in my back yard. I live in the middle of Northern Lower Michigan. We have sandy soil and glacier deposits of stones, gemstones and gold. Yes Gold.

The glaciers tore up the land and brought down deposits of minerals and gold from Canada. When the glaciers receded, they left Michigan with some of the richest and most varied types of minerals you can find. Along with the deposits are tiny flakes of placer gold. This is flour gold. Tiny specs of gold.

I tried my Garrett gold pan set and found a speck of gold in my first pan. I find about one speck of gold in every shovel of sand from my yard. Now dont go bursting down my fence to steal my gold. It is very tiny and not worth much of anything really. But it sure is cool to find.

You can find flour gold in just about any gravel pit, back yard and river in Michigan. You will not get rich from it but it sure is a lot of fun for the family.
