**** ABOUT THIS VIDEO *****
In this video, I return to Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area (and Pickett State Park) to find out how I got lost there last month.
I covered these trails: the Hidden Passage Trail in Pickett State Park, and the Rock Creek Loop Trail in Big South Fork. I camped near the trail with a tarp and survived the rain.
I went between these two loops two ways: first, by way of the Drop Off Trail and the Coffee Trail; second, on the return, by way of the Rock Creek Trail (I think) and the Tunnel Trail.
Hope you enjoy the video!
[IMPORTANT UPDATE February 10, 2017: The Tennessee Division of Forestry has removed the signs for the Drop-Off Trail, has bulldozed parts of the trail, and will no longer maintain it. Meanwhile, Pickett State Park recommends that anyone who wants to hike between the Hidden Passage Trail and the Rock Creek Loop section of Big South Fork should use the Tunnel Trail to make the connection. However, there is no direct connection between these areas unless you also hike on the Rock Creek Trail, which is not reliably mapped, at least to my knowledge. For these reasons, I would not recommend attempting the connection between Pickett State Park and Big South Fork without a GPS-enabled map or guidance from someone who knows the trails.]
