1) Holiday / holidays is the time when you don’t work or study
Праздник / Праздники
Official public holidays
Официальные государственные праздники
For example
Victory Day (May 9) - is one of the biggest holidays in Russia.
We pay tribute to survivors and veterans. There are concerts for veterans and a firework in the evening
If we talk about 2020
Если мы говорим о две тысячи двадцатом
We don’t work from the 1st of January to the 8th of January
Мы не работаем с первого по восьмое января
When I said we don’t work I meant most of the companies for example
government offices, embassies, b2b offices. They are closed
Restaurants, bars, stores, shopping malls, museums and other companies are open.
Because holidays are big time for them to make money.
