After the excitement of driving the Transfăgărășan Highway I stop by the city of Sibiu to learn a little about its history and to take a walking tour around the two main areas - the upper and lower towns. Connected by a series of tunnels, steps and narrow passageways the historic centre of Sibiu is a mixture of quaint marketplaces and grand central squares lined with restaurants, coffee shops, churches and halls.

Spending half a day in Sibiu allowed me to get a good flavour of the city and see lots of its key landmarks such as Piata Mare and the Liar's Bridge. It's easily possible to see Sibiu in one day and is fast becoming one of the best unusual places to visit in Europe. No doubt about it, this place is on the up!
