THE STORY: "The New Year" was written as a reflection on time. That first verse was written as an ode to a New Year's Eve party that I remember going to as a young college kid...and everything after...well, at the time, I didn't know. If we only knew then what we know now, right? But here's an ode to the New Year, every year. May it always be better than the last.

FAVORITE PART: That opening riff. I played it for hours and hours, years and years, and then I was asked by (Anthony Lopardo) the producer to rewrite the song with that as the central feature. Great advice.
