Buddhist Monks Give to Villagers (YOU MIGHT CRY!) MONKS IN THAILAND | Life of a Monk in Thailand.

A teaching we receive time and time again from our teaching monk is about giving and generosity. Giving is the 2nd pillar of buddhism after precepts and before meditation. This kind of giving is the kind where you give from a pure heart and without expectations of anything in return. You give because it’s the right thing to do. When others are going through a difficult time, you step up to the plate. This is the lesson we were taught today.
Like many people around the world, the Covid-19 pandemic impacted Papae, a small village in Northern Thailand. The economy took a plunge and it forced many locals to lose their jobs. To show their gratitude and support for the community, the monks at the Papae Meditation Retreat decided to take matters into their own hands. First, they made an offering of a Buddha statue to the local temple. This tradition involved monks securing the Buddha statue onto a platform and they parading it into the city while performing a sacred chant. Second, they offered dried goods and drinks for the villagers. And lastly, they took to the streets and made home visits to the elderly who were not able to attend the ceremony.
