Today's video is a review of my Hermés Kelly Retourne 32 in Swift leather and palladium hardware. Size 32 denotes the width of the bag, measuring 32 cm. Available in 5 sizes, (20, 25, 28, 32, 35), my bag is on the upper end size-wise. I'll show you where the bag rests when wearing the strap (I'm 5'4" and I'd consider this a small to medium size bag). Swift leather is popular in that it holds dyes well and maintains a rich vibrant color, however it is scratch prone (small scratches can be buffed out with a microfiber cloth).

I have the Retourne style, which differs from the Sellier in that it is slouchier due to the absence of topstitching on either side. The Retourne is more casual, in my opinion.

Accessorized on my Kelly is a Rodeo Grigri charm in the medium size. It measures 5 inches in width and has a 7 inch drop. It is made entirely of lambskin aside from the attachment drop. It was purchased at the Hermés store in the South Coast Plaza mall.

Another interesting feature of this bag is that it includes its own vinyl rain jacket! It is basically a slip cover for your bag should you ever find yourself in a downpour. I haven't gotten the chance to use that feature but it is definitely handy to have.

All Kelly bags manufactured from 1980 onward include a long shoulder strap. Before that time, they could only be included as a custom order.

Princing on this bag ranges (based on year made, condition, leather, hardware condition, etc) from $7k- 10k. Other luxury brands produce "Kelly-type" bags, such as Fendi's Peekaboo, Louis Vuitton's Malesherbes, and even Chanel has a trapezoid shaped bag the somehwhat resembles the Kelly. I find that the Kelly's are priced at least 30% less than the Birkin.

Hermés has over 33 leather options, ranging from Calf, Clemence, Togo, Epsom, etc. so to get the "ideal" bag a specific style, size, leather, COLOR, and hardware selection is near to impossible (especially in store-- good luck!!!), so I'd recommend checking out sites such as the Real Real or Tradesy and watch out for any combinations of interest. ❤
