Sights and celebrations at Narita-san Shinshō-ji Temple

Narita-san Shinshō-ji is one of the most important and popular Buddhist temples in Japan. From the train station it is a fifteen minute downhill walk along Omotesando (Front) Road, a street lined with little shops in 300 year old buildings .

The temple was founded in 940 AD. Ceremonies are open to the public and offered several times a day. The beautiful forty acre Naritasan Park is behind main temple.

It is a short bus or train ride from Tokyo's Narita International Airport, making it easy to visit even if you have a layover of several hours.
