Best sendoff from a cruise port: Hamburg, Germany aboard the Queen Mary 2

It was a sendoff fit for a king when we sailed aboard Cunard's Queen Mary 2 from Hamburg, Germany to New York. People lined the shores of the Elbe River for miles.

The view of the city and busy harbor--one of the largest in the world--was spectacular from the top decks. Music blared, boats of all descriptions followed, people cheered, and fireworks added to the celebratory atmosphere. Guests of the Louis C. Jacob Hotel waved their sheets from their windows.
