Sigtuna: Sweden’s oldest town

A day trip from Stockholm to Sigtuna aboard the Evert Taube, named for the Swedish composer. We were met at the ship for our guided tour by a woman dressed in Viking style.

Sigtuna is Sweden's oldest town, founded in 980AD. It's a place to spend a leisurely day strolling past the colorfully painted houses and shops along Stora Gatan, seeing Viking treasures, catching a summer concert, or just sipping coffee, enjoying an ice cream cone by the water, or relaxing in the park. Skokloster Castle is nearby.

Sigtuna is also accessible by boat or train.
