How To Auto-Regulate Your Training For MONSTER GAINS

Auto-regulation is a system of training and mode of progression whereby each training session is tailored to the body's current state of readiness on any particular day. This is not to be confused with the notion of "training by feel," as espoused by many bodybuilding enthusiasts, as there is far more of a framework and a plan that is worked within for each training session and for the program as a whole. However, the training session's themselves are adjusted in terms of the weight that will be lifted that day. Within the training session both subjective and objective feedback are used to make the most informed and accurate decisions possible in this regard and where the stopping point should be on any particular day.

Adapting the individual training sessions to match the body's current state of readiness on a particular day stands in stark contrast to the idea of traditional linear progression methods, which force you to increase the weight on the bar in designated, predetermined intervals and force you to lift a certain weight on a certain day no matter how you are feeling that day or what other circumstances may happen to be in place. Viewing adaptation in a vacuum like this has its drawbacks, but it does have its share of positive benefits. However, as the training experience of the individual increases using the auto-regulation method can be a fantastic way to spur new progress along and solidify new gains in the long term without burning out the trainee or creating a state of overreaching or overtraining that is difficult to recover from.
