I had a client come in who said, “Blake, I’m a new business, I want to get more customers, but nothing is working! I’m so frustrated. I’m spending all this money on Google ads, people are clicking, but no one is signing up for my service! What the heck!?"

Well, I said, "Let’s walk through the process and see what it’s like for a potential customer". So we Googled her search term found her and when clicked on the ad, it just brought them to her boring home page that wasn’t even optimized well.

So I said, “You need a better landing page!” She said, "What the heck is a landing page?" And I said, "Thats where your potential customers visit a page and get directed to do one specific thing". And for her that was selling her specific services and getting the potential customer to sign up.

She said she loved this idea, but she knows nothing about websites, and can’t do this landing page herself.

So I helped her hire a quality freelancer on upwork.com. She worked with the freelancer on a couple of landing pages, the landing pages came out really nicely. And now, the client has a consistent flow of customers, she’s proud of her landing page. And in her words as soon as they get to get landing page she has them hooked and at least interested in her services.

The #1 Google Adwords Mistake I see is having a crappy landing page after someone clicks on the ad. Small businesses will start advertising with no thought on the user experience. You must think about it.

Here’s something that many business owners and many in house marketers don’t know about. When you advertise in Google Ads, if a potential customers clicks on your ad, then visits your website, and quickly leaves because it isn’t satisfying their need, Google will hit you with a low quality score. And it was actually be more expensive for you to advertise in Google.

What does a quality landing page look like? Mobile friendly text, photos, maybe a video, testimonials, simple, dedicated to one CTA so the potential customer

And if you cannot make a landing page yourself, consider hiring a landing page expert.
