Christmas Time in Chicago: a 1989 WMAQ-TV holiday special hosted by Carol Marin and Ron Magers
Here's a WMAQ-TV Christmas special that aired on December 23rd and December 25th of 1989, when the end of the Cold War seemed at hand. It interpolates segments of a "Garroway at Large" broadcast that aired on Christmas Eve of 1950, a season when things were not going well for our troops in Korea. Featured in the 1950 broadcast were Dave Garroway, Connie Russell, Bette Chapel, Cliff Norton, Jimmy Russell, Aura Vainio and Joseph Gallicchio and the NBC-Chicago Orchestra. Participating in the 1989 broadcast were Carol Marin, Ron Magers, Ray Suarez, Warner Saunders, Rich Samuels and the Georgia Frances Orchestra. Enjoy!
