Refinement (definition): finesse, polish, finish.

Henry Clarke, capturing the end of an era. Many of his greatest photographs were encapsulated in a book entitled "L'Elegance des Annees Cinquante". A reference, perhaps, to the closing days of haute couture at its best - the 1950s.

Here the images depict classic sophistication by chic models. But he also regularly included the great dressers of that period - the Empress of Thailand, the Duchess of Windsor, Marella Agnelli and Robin Duke.
