"The Cellar Path" (Extreme Demon) by JamAttack | Geometry Dash 2.11

JamAttack asked me if I wanted to showcase this, and I couldn't really say no when it's a level this good. This is an Extreme Demon, so it's too hard for me. Special thanks to him for recording this video. I will not be commenting on the gameplay much for that reason. He did say it's his best gameplay yet, though, and we'll see what the community thinks.

I've seen many of JamAttack's levels in the past, but many of them have either been rated or showcased a lot before I got to them. A few of them have been uploaded to my channel, though, but it's been a while. From those, it was clear that his style is a mix of themed design and art, and that's no different here. Like the name implies, this is themed after a cellar, or at least that's where you start out. Throughout the level, you go through multiple themes, but they all connect to each other quite well. As a result, this ends up somewhat like a travel level, albeit not as long, with loosely connected subthemes. The transitions play a major part in making this work, and I think JamAttack handled them well for the most part. A good example is the transition at 1:31. While the following gameplay is blind, it lets you chill for a second making it a non-issue, and the visuals for the transitions are clever. The following crystal themed parts are some of my favorite in this level.

The good thing about the subthemes of the level is not only the variety of art it allows, but also the colors. It would be easy for JamAttack to go the easy route and make this entire level exclusively cellar themed with only brown shades throughout. However, due to the different subthemes you travel through, there's a wide variety of color schemes found in this. My favorite one is probably the purple and magenta at the crystal parts, which is part of why I like those so much. The backgrounds and block designs are also very cool here, and I think that's the case for the majority of the level. Some parts are definitely a bit more boring, but that's to be expected in a level this long with this much variety. Personally, I found some parts to have a bit too much black in the foreground. On the other hand, I admit that it fits the theme quite well.

All in all, this is a very cool themed level by JamAttack. The visuals flow nicely between loosely connected themes, and every part features fitting block designs, backgrounds, and colors. From watching, I can't see any glaring gameplay issues, and with the visuals in mind, I think this deserves an Epic Extreme Demon rating. The hardest part definitely seems to be the Dual at 2:01, which happens at the climax of the song. It looks very satisfying to beat, so I'm sure we'll see some completions soon.
