To end insomnia, you need two things, increase sleep drive and reduce sleep anxiety.

Here is what helped me.

To increase the sleep drive, have a sleep window of about six and a half to eight hours and be awake for the rest of the time.

Number two, have a low-pressure wind down one hour before bed.

Number three, don't watch the clock in your bedroom, move it to another room.

Number four, don't try to force sleep to happen. It's a passive biological process.

To reduce the sleep anxiety, start a daily mindfulness meditation practice and stick with it.

Number two, challenge unrealistic thoughts like, if I don't sleep tonight, I'll die.

They're not grounded in reality.

Number three, when you can't sleep, practice mindfulness in bed with a body scan exercise.

Number four, when you can't sleep, you can go to another room, read a book, watch a show, do something relaxing.
