From Rejection to Hope: A Musician's Transplant Story | Duke Health

When Eddie Zimmerman needed a kidney transplant for the second time he knew Duke was where he wanted to be. He had been rejected from another center due to concerns about his BMI. Duke was able to find a way to safely transplant him. Despite performing transplants for people with multiple, complex medical problems Duke's outcomes are consistently excellent. The Duke kidney transplant program has performed kidney transplants for more than 50 years and is one of the highest volume programs in North Carolina.
