The Strymon El Capistan dTape Echo and the Empress Vintage Modified Superdelay

Here is a quick comparison of the Strymon El Capistan dTape Echo and the Empress Vintage Modified Superdelay. Guitar is G&L S-500 with Seymour Duncan Jazz in neck position. Open G tuning and it was a I - V - IV riff of some kind basically using the Am7 chord shape and not barring when moving to the 7th and then 5th fret. Genz Benz Black Pearl recorded by a Sennheiser e906 into Sonar.

I tried to get similar settings between the two delay pedals. But as far a Tape Delay settings the Strymon has a multitude more variations. Truly amazing and psychedelic.

Setting on the Strmon are Tape Head Fixed and Mode B. On the Empress it is Tape Mode of course, low pass filter, slow modulation and Mode C.

The Blackout Effectors Twosome was not recorded but that thing rocks big time and sounds good through either delay. It immediately fell in love with my EL84 based amp. :)

Thanks to The Gear Page for keeping me addicted to gear! :P
