Aikido technique KOKYUHO (Sokumen iriminage) by Stefan Stenudd, 7 dan Aikikai shihan

Here is the aikido technique kokyuho (also called sokumen iriminage), applied against a bunch of different attacks. I show it both slow and fast - mainly gotai (from a static starting point), but also some jutai (moving as the attack approaches) when going faster.

Kokyuho is one of the very basic forms of aikido, simply meaning 'breath method', which points to the use of breath power and rhythm in the technique. It is commonly practiced in the beginning of the class, usually with a morotedori or katatedori attack, but it is easily applied to just about any attack form.

As the years go by, I find it more and more rewarding to exercise. I practice it just about every class. Kokyuho has a lot to give, also to the other aikido techniques.
