Kyrie eleison I, Mass in B minor (piano transcription played on CLP-785)

*[2024-01-27] A new version is available:* https://youtu.be/5TitKidMhIc

After 5 months of waiting, my new piano, the Yamaha CLP-785, has finally arrived. Here is my very first video recording on this piano using all default settings. Since I played the Casio CDP-100/130 for many years, I am still adjusting to the action and pedal (which are awesome).

Mass in B minor by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750)
1. Kyrie eleison I
Arr.: Ruoshi Sun (2021)
Piano: Ruoshi Sun (2022)

[Transcription notes] Priority is given to vocal parts since the five-part fugue sung by the choir is the most essential. Due to practical concerns I have limited the number of parts to five. During the instrumental interlude, I have adopted this order of priority for the upper and inner voices: subject/motif, countersubject, figured bass realization. Sometimes a part is formed from fragments of different instrumental parts. As the choir reenters, the instrumental parts are gradually taken over.

[Performance notes] Certain chords may need to be arpeggiated, but depending on the hand span octave transpositions are at the performer's liberty.

My transcription of the entire Mass in B minor has been completed on Nov 25, 2021. See playlist for the foreword and the other movements: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzn9AgnjjJPlNlr6u2x9SNQboQgA8sNmx
