Representative Rashida Tlaib is frustrated with Congress claiming that they don’t have the funds to provide another round of stimulus checks to struggling Americans.

She explained: “I’m hearing as we try to debate this relief package that we now can’t afford to give people another $1,200 stimulus check. Well, guess what, I know exactly where we can get the money to pay for it. And I believe Jeff Bezos knows exactly where as well.”
Tlaib continued: “I hear them always saying that when it comes to my residents, and asking for stimulus payment, but they never question what are the billionaires doing with that tax break? What are they spending money on?”

She also said: “This is not the time [to] wait. There’s a sense of urgency that I think the American people are demanding of us. And in that regard, I think, well intended or not, telling us to wait until we find the money when we’re telling you exactly where to find the money and exactly how to pay for it.”

I completely agree, and think it is extremely unfair that all of us have to pay taxes, while the richest people can get around the rules and avoid paying their fair share.

Meanwhile, with the deadline quickly approaching for Congress to pass their own funding bill, leading negotiators from both sides of the aisle are optimistic about passing the CR bill, as well as some much needed stimulus disaster relief funds for us regular Americans.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell recently stated: "We agreed we will not leave town until we've made law."

He also said that Dems and the GOP have: "made major headway toward hammering out a targeted pandemic relief package that would be able to pass both chambers with bipartisan majorities."

Both Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer met with Steven Mnuchin last night, and Pelosi’s spokesman Drew Hammill stated: “All three emphasized the urgency to reaching an immediate agreement.”

Pelosi also said: “we made some progress this morning, and are waiting to hear back.”

It looks like stimulus negotiations are going to go down to the final hours, but at least both Democrats and Republicans are fighting to get a deal done before it’s too late.

Finally, it’s the return of the stimulus checks!

We talked about the proposed $748 billion stimulus package earlier this week, and it looks like this disaster relief package have been beefed up with another round of stimulus checks to be disbursed to millions of Americans in the coming weeks.

The bipartisan stimulus package is now reportedly around $900 billion, and will include another round of direct payments, but will not offer every eligible Americans with a check for $1,200 like in the CARES Act.

Instead, this new stimulus bill will offer most Americans with a stimulus check for $600, with couples receiving $1,200 direct payments.

While I’d love to see another round of $1,200 stimulus checks, at least we’re now getting some kind of stimulus check, which was not the case just 2 days ago.
