Itasha decorative STYLE & car tuning culture in Japan
Japanese car manufacturers have reached many incredible engineering goals but many people in Japan seem to be very much into personalizing stock cars that is why the abundance of car tuning styles and visual design techniques come from this country.
Many styles are highly influenced by popular teen cultures and personal interests (mostly obsessive interests with popular anime and manga – this phenomenon is usually called an Otaku).
Itasha is a whole car tuning and decoration style, which was founded by the obsessed fans of popular cartoons. Their cars are being painted and furnished with their favorite cartoon characters (usually over idealized). Even thought the Itasha culture is translated as "painful car" (negative meaning even in the name of the culture) and exists only several years, it is progressing very fast and can now be seen in aircraft design, on computer cases and other transport-related products.
