Medieval Axe Replica

Hewing spuce 18x20x600cm beam on sunday morning with freshly forged bearded axe.

These axes were used mostly during the medieval era. Their biggest strength is their ability to be used for both felling trees, as well as both scoring and hewing tree logs. Tree can be therefore transformed into a beam using a single axe. Long handles make it possible to use them on a logs laying on the ground (so called "low work") which is very useful, if you work alone with heavier logs.

Later in history they were replaced by multiple different axe types, more specialized in specific tasks, such as broad axes and dedicated felling axes.
