Drilling a Well by Hand and getting Free Water

This is the second video of two-part serie, documenting drilling a 5.5m/18ft well with no power tools.

In this part I continue drilling the well. I insert a plastic well pipe into the borehole, to prevent the walls from collapsing. The gravel functions as a filter, preventing any soil or sand particles entering the well with the water.

I have built a stone and concrete base around the well pipe. This base serves as a platform for a hand pump installation, and it also elevates the pump a little bit, to make puming more comfortable. It also looks cool

The pump is old type hand pump, that was thrown away. I was able to restore most of the parts, and gave the pump new coat of paint. Parts that were too damaged were replaced.

The well is providing water for two months without any problems, even during the dry end of summer.
