Key things to know about “Plateau” #gym #fitness #workout #health #gymmotivation #fit #gymrat

Progress towards a goal is slowed or even stops temporarily.

I’m terms of training, this is commonly caused by not including some form of muscle confusion such as changing a routine after a while or by simply including progressive overload.

Fat loss or muscle gain goals often come to a temporary halt along training. For those in a fat loss phase, simply reducing calories slightly more will fix a plateau. For those in a muscle gain phase, increasing calories slightly and including muscle confusion/progressive overload will often help. Adding more recovery in general for both goals is very beneficial as well.

For some, plateaus may be hit because their body needs to take a step back and recover. The body takes a beating after a while and simply needs a break.

Hitting a plateau is very common but can easily be broken if the correct steps are taken.

Plateaus are not ideal, in order for progress to continue they must be broken.

In the end, what matters most is that people aren’t discouraged in any way and continue to work towards their goals.

Patience is key, keep at it.
